I had the opportunity of spending a month in Europe on a business trip … Slovenia, Germany, Italy.
Several things are worth noting as we Americans enter into our Green Era:
- TRAFFIC CIRCLES … about 10-15% of neighborhood intersections are managed by
traffic circles; they could easily handle 4 cars arriving
simultaneously, and very rarely did I have to stop.
- TIMER-BASED LIGHTING … in so many public buildings, such as corporate office
buildings and apartment buildings, the public spaces
are lit by timer-based lights, such that they turn off
automatically after a few minutes, and are turned
back on by either motion detection, or by easy-to-find
and access light switches … this saves a ton of unused lighting.
