Environment: energy consumption tax of 100% ?

I suppose that if I were charged a 100% tax on the energy that I use in my home that I might be prone to using less energy.

Of course this is a ridiculous idea … I mean, “what about the poor people that run one electric space heater in the winter?”

But as a mental exercise … would a 100% energy consumption tax mitigate our environmental footprint?
