America: when did we go wrong ?
I believe that our problems began in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s, when two events happened simultaneously:
- our world-renowned success in WWII,
- the development of hyper-consumerism.
These two events led to two syndromes:
- blind nationalism,
- indiscretionary consumerism.
I believe that many of our problems arise from these two syndromes.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

1913 : Creation of the Federal Reserve
1960-1970 : Wartime spending
1971 : Nixon removes the gold standard
1980 -> : Massive deficit spending
2001 – 2005 : Alan Greenspan monetary policy
2007-2008 : Not letting banks go under. TARP.
2009 : Stimulus package (and possibly more financial packages) that will inevitably blast the dollar once the world doesn’t want it anymore
2010 – 20XX : ?????
The only thing not clear is what happens next. At least from my POV.

Blind nationalism? Was that during the time we were rebuilding Europe & Japan, or when we were trying to save South Vietnam from the Chinese puppets in North Vietnam, or just, you know, when was it exactly that we ever stopped trying to help the world.
Hey, maybe we’ve gone broke BY TRYING TO BAIL OUT THE REST OF THE WORLD! As a member of a large family, I can certainly see this. I typed my cousin’s application for bankruptcy. “I tried to help my family, but it dragged me down instead.”
Yep. What’s next?
I’m more than ready for a full-up rebellion/revolution/overthrow of this dictatorship.

In my opinion firstly two event shows the success of universe & another two events show the darkness ..& may be another country who doesn’t want to understand this type of event……..

I think it happened when we approved of the welfare state. The government has been getting bigger and bigger ever since, as more people sign on to free stuff.
It also happened when we starting legislating immorality.

Once again I find myself agreeing with you.
America was built upon the foundation that everyone is entitled to whatever they can get. A noble cause , to be sure, but it has a huge flaw.
Everyone wants everything, so when you tell them that they can have it if they work hard enough, you get capitalism. But you also get the evils of capitalism, greed, gluttony, and total disregard for the common man.
After world war two, America became the most powerful nation on earth. But we stopped caring about advancement, for if your on the top, why should you have to make sacrifices of do hard work?
This caused us to get a “My country is the best in the world!!” mentality that continues even when we are most defiantly not. The American people are afraid of change, (even though the last election seemed the think other wise). we did not elect Obama to change America, we elected him to bring us back to where we were.
The only way I see America changing for the better is if the common man sees that you should love your country, but not your government.
